Last year the wonderful Ashley from Lazy Daisy Jones ran a photo a day challenge and I loved every minute of it. So when I heard she was running another one this year I was beyond excited and determined to really think about each photo and how I was going to try and be a little more creative this time round. Want to see the list for each day in October, here it is...
Day 1: Yarn Selfie
It was incredibly difficult to pin the yarn to my hair, my family finally think I have flipped! |
What could be cosier than being surround by crochet blankets, working on my latest project, wearing my home felted slippers and sitting in front of a lit fire? |
Day 3: Texture
This was a no brainer, I'm Norwegian so it had to be the waffle stitch for texture didn't it? |
Day 4: Granny Square
Here I am aged 2 and a half with my granny who taught me originally to crochet |
Day 5: WIP
This was hard for me as I have so many works in progress, but my current ones that I am working on and not sitting in the corner waiting their turn are all Christmas related. |
Unfortunately this month has not turned out as I had planned and I have been side lined a bit by current events, so it was not to be that I could complete this photo challenge nor have I even had time to look to see what others have posted, I made it to day 8 before I had to bow out. I am however, already looking forward to next year if Ashley runs it again.
UPDATE:
Thank you to everyone who commented on my last post Drama on the high seas, I am sorry that I have not as yet replied to everyone on that post and the one before, as said life has been somewhat hectic, but I do intend to if I can. I though it more important to come and visit your blogs instead but I always read every comment and I really do try to reply, just been slack of late and I apologise. QUESTION? Do you know when I reply to your comments, are you informed via email, do you come back to check? I still have not worked out about comments and replies, can you advise?
So back to the update and Ella... she is no longer on a meningitis watch but is still completely wiped out and it may take some weeks before she is fully recovered. The last two weeks have been mostly spent sleeping and recuperating but each day she is a little better, thank you all so much for your get well wishes to her xxxx
Joining in with Amy sharing my 5 photos with you,
hoping you will stop by and see what others are sharing too.
♥ Hoping for continued autumnal warmth ♥
First of all, glad to hear Ella is on the mend, what a relief. I don't know if you've replied to my messages and I don't really go back to check as I find writing my blog, replying to messages and reading blogs take up all my time but thanks for your replies to my messages anyway. Your photos are wonderful, shame you had to withdraw, perhaps you could start up again when things settle down. So much to do. x
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to hear that Ella is recovering albeit slowly. Your pictures are truly amazing, I was so impressed by your interpretation of the word and the artistic flair putting them together. A great five.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear Ella is on the mend and I hope she continues to make steady progress. I love the picture of you and your Granny and the snowflakes are beautiful - looking forward to seeing what you will do with them next.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Ella is on the mend. I love your pictures, especially the Yarn Selfie. So funny.
ReplyDeleteHappy Five on Friday
Glad to hear your daughter is getting well, it must have been such a worry for you. The yarn selfie is wonderful:)
ReplyDeleteYour selfie with the yarn is priceless !
ReplyDeleteBTW, I don't get answers on my comments in my mails, that's why usually I answer per mail to a comment, if there is a mail address of course !
ReplyDeleteSo many things here that made me smile. Happy to hear your Ella is recovering albeit slowly. Your selfie is fabulous. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteLoving all your yarny photographs. So good to read Ella is gradually on the mend. X
ReplyDeleteGreat crochetness as always!! Love the selfie! I am glad to hear that Ella is improving, I hope she will soon be back to her normal self again. It must have been a scary time for you. As for comments, I don't subscribe to get e-mail replies because then you get an e-mail for every comment and every reply. If you set up one of the clever replying methods that I think you have to pay for you can just reply direct to a person. I reply sometimes directly in the comments and people can go back and read them or not as they wish. As for reading replies, if I get an email I of course read it, otherwise for blogs that I know reply - like yours - I go back and check if I remember then next time I read a post on the blog. I don't suppose that is any use to you, but that is what I do! I suspect that unless you reply by email most people don't go back and read replies. Thank you for being part of Five On Friday, hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see the challenge photos - the selfie made me smile :) You do look cozy under all the colorful blankets! I am sorry that I have missed a few posts here, but it does look like you had a wonderful time on your sailing trip. Sending healing thoughts to Ella and glad she is on the mend. As for comments, I simply don't have time to come back and read replies unless I ask a question. As far as my own blog I don't reply to comments on my blog unless there is a question asked. This seems to work well for me and my readers don't seem to mind. Sending hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteThe photo challenge images are very creative, but I can understand why you couldn't continue with it. I hope your daughter fully recovers very soon. I go back to see what bloggers have written in reply to my comment. I know those who do that and those who don't. I usually reply to comments that are left on my blog posts by way of the comments box. Of course, I know some bloggers won't come back and look at my reply. However, with Five on Friday posts recently I stopped replying. I now prefer to spend my time reading participants' blogs and commenting on what they have shared.
ReplyDeleteCame over form Annie. What cool looking crochet project I been working on swifter covers, but it coming along slowly.
ReplyDeleteIf you have time stop over for a cup of coffee.
Love your picture challenges. Very inspiring. I enjoyed doing one in August. They really make you think out of the box. I don't get emails to notify me, but I do check back, particularly if I think people are likely to comment. I know not everyone does. Good news about your daughter. Have a good weekend. B X
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great challenge and you really did a good job capturing them.
ReplyDeleteThat selfie cracked me up!!! What a hoot.
ReplyDeleteNow the waffle stitch is new to me...will have to Google search for that one. I crochet, but haven't in a long time...maybe I can find something to make with that particular stitch.
your selfie make me smile.... what an idea! ;))
ReplyDeletehave a nice day
Found the selfie very novel! Maybe we don't see enough of each other in our posts? Thinking I may copy you and slip in every once in a while. As for your comments question, I get emailed comments on my blog, but not when you reply to me on yours. Seldom return for a reply unless I ask a question that might be answered. As a rule, I've adopted the habit of replying only when asked a question or need to provide some info that others might benefit from. What I try to do is go to the commenter's blog and leave a comment for them. I vote that this is the nicest way to say thank you for visiting.
ReplyDeleteInteresting Sugar that you are not notified when I reply. Need to ask someone to help me look at what I'm doing wrong. Just popped back s d seen that you have added a photo of yourself on the blog. It's a cracker of a photo

Sounds like a wonderful, fun challenge. Love your selfie. Happy to Ella is better. Recovery can be so slow and discouraging. Take care and enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about a slow and discouraging recovery. Trying to boost her thoughts of well being. She gets tired so very quickly
DeleteSelma, Iรจm sorry to hear that Ella has been unwell, but glad that she is on the mend. I will add her to my prayer list, if you (and she) like.
ReplyDeleteI just have a few minutes for catching up on blog reading, so no long note here Take care. Much love to you all. ~ Linne
Lovely to hear from you Linne. Caught up with your last post. Hope the next move is smooth. Thank you for adding Ella to your list xx
DeleteA fun five, :) and I know how life can overtake our good intentions when we least expect it.
ReplyDeleteDiana
Thanks for understanding Diana
DeleteI had to smile at your yarn selfie, brilliant. I'm glad to hear that Ella is recovering, that must have been a scary time for your all. I'm the same as you where comments are concerned, I usually reply to the comment on my blog but I'm not sure if many people actually return to read the reply. As I do this myself, I always return to any comment I've left on a blog to see if a reply has been left, as I'm never notified of a reply by email, though I know that most people don't actually reply to comments these days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know Jo. Irritatingly often my comments end up at the end of all the comments when I reply here on the blog and not immediately below as a reply should. Need to figure out what I'm doing wrong eek
DeleteI really enjoyed seeing your contributions to the LDJ Hookup. I've loved it this time but have found it hard to always join in, or more often it's just that I haven't had the time, especially when I've been at work. But I liked how fun your interpretations of the prompts were. x
ReplyDeleteGlad it wasn't just me that struggled to join in this year Gillian. Sad to have as I find it so much fun though.
DeleteGorgeous waffle stitch. I wouldn't know where to start with that one. I'll stick to messing about with card and paper. I'm in with a chance of producing something reasonable then.
ReplyDeleteMessing about with card and paper is so much fun! Bet you produce stunning work History Anorak
