      Easter Crochet and Bakewell Tart

      13th March

Most craft blogs at this time of year show an abundance of bunnies, they truly do breed like rabbits and I'm sorry but this blog is no exception.  My excuse this year is that on my Thursday crochet teaching session, I was showing how to read a crochet pattern and needed a simple pattern.

I set about making a variety of bunnies for inspiration and became a little hooked.

      Bunnies

      Bunny 1
I am still not sure what eyes to give this little fellow,
      any suggestions?

      Bunny 2
Quick to make and easy enough for a beginner

Quickly hook up a ring in trebles and attach
and you have a napkin holder

They can be turned into a garland

      They can decorate cakes

New to crocheting and look at these!

      Fresh colours for Easter

Made by an on line member
      of the Thursday crochet lessons
This is such an easy quick make and was ideal for a short teaching session.  The only sticking point was teaching how to make a magic circle.  After only having had 7 crochet lessons, I thought it was about time they ventured into knowing how to make said loop.  All managed and all are very proud owners of bunnies that are breeding at an alarming rate...

Can't not have an egg without a cosy

      Bakewell tart
We love this cake, it has everything in it that is good and tasty
We make this cake regularly and in our house we call it Ella's tart, it was our daughter who discovered and first baked it.  In fact it is her go to make cake.  It's easy, quick and simple to make and the taste is incredibly delicious.  I have posted the recipe before, just follow the link and scroll through the post to the end.  Make and enjoy!  It's a real British classic with a little twist:    Ella's tart

      Easter knitting

My current favourite makes, knitted Easter baubles
I know I wrote a whole post about these yesterday, but I am so happy and delighted with them that I wanted to include them on my Easter makes page.  Pop over and see:  Knitted Easter baubles  Isn't our countryside here in the UK glorious too.

      1. Well they're all beautiful, but Bunny 2 is so clever and beautiful - one of those ideas that makes me think, 'I wish I'd come up with that!' Glad your new class is going so well.

      2. They are brilliant! I love the bunnies around the cake dome, that is a great idea that I soooo wish that I had thought of - but I might borrow it! Hee hee! Your class did really well with theirs too didn't they. I have made some of these and loved making them, but I cheated and didn't do the magic loop - bad person that I am! Thank you so much for joining in! I hope that you have a great weekend! xx

      6. I made many of those first bunnies last year but didn't keep one for myself. :( Will have to give the simple bunny motif a try. I never have gotten the hang of using the magic circle. Have a great weekend. Tammy

      12. Oh they are all so lovely Selma - inspiration to anyone who can crochet.
I love garlands so those would be my faves!
....if only I could crochet - I have tried but once I've made that first chain - it all goes haywire!
I wish I had learnt at my mothers knee!
        A delightful post.

        1. I find the first row after a chain hugely difficult and almost always contemplate giving up. I've found that if I keep the chain loose and use a hook size up than required then for the first row return to the normal size hook that may help until you are used to crocheting. Give it a try x

      13. Thank you Selma - I'll try that and let you know how I go!
