Scandinavian influenced Attic 24 Cosy cal COLOURS

      November 11th

I would like to say a huge thank you for the over whelming response to yesterday's post about  my CAL blanket with Lucy at Attic 24.  If you missed the post, you can find it here

Also as it is Remembrance day, I have popped my poppy ring in the corner.  should you wish to make your own follow the link here
I love colour and have been adding as much as I dare to our home before the family tell me it is enough.  But even I needed a colour break and so when my son switched bedrooms with the spare room a couple of weeks ago, before I moved all the spare room furniture back in I decided some redecorating was in order and do you know what?  I didn't choose gorgeous vibrant happy and cheerful colours.  Instead I opted for a Scandinavian influence of calm and natural.  I painted the blue wooden floorboards an off white cream colour and will be slowly adding more and more neutrals into the room.  So Lucy's CAL Cosy blanket came just at the right time for me to add a little personal touch into the bedroom, so it had to be calming and neutral. Not my normal choice!

Lucy recommended using Stylecraft Special DK and having used it before myself was keen to do the same.  I hopped over to one of my favourite wool websites, follow link here , searched through the vast array of colours, finding it very difficult I might add, not putting in beautiful autumnal colours in my basket.  But I held off and stayed focused.

The colours that I finally decided on were:
      Stone, 1710, Parchment 1218, Cream 1005, White 1001
      and Silver 1203.

Colours influenced by Scandinavia and nature

So for the first 15 colours the random choices for my CAL with Lucy are as follows:

      1  Parchment rows 1 & 2
      2  Cream rows 3 & 4
      3  Silver rows  5 & 6
      4  Parchment rows 7 & 8
      5  Stone rows 9 & 10
      6 Silver rows 11 & 12
      7  White rows 13 & 14
      8  Cream rows 15 & 16
      9 Parchment row 17 & 18
      10  Silver rows 19 & 20
      11 Cream rows 21 & 22
      12 Stone rows 23 & 24
      13 White rows 25 & 26
      14  Parchment rows 27 & 28
      15 Silver rows 29 & 30

...and it should look something like this!

From top to bottom rows 1-30

All folded and ready for me to pick it up again this evening
Hope this helps those that wanted to know the colour choice of my CAL with Lucy and the order in which I am crocheting.  I do think that I will end up making a second one and it will be in her vibrant autumnal colours, I just cannot resist!  Lucy has kindly said she likes these colours herself and finds them calming and may add them to her CAL gallery on Sunday!!!  Link to Lucy's wonderfully easy and perfect for wintery evenings pattern can be found here .

♥ Have a great week and thank you for all your comments and support ♥

      2. I'm doing the CAL too and adding in a few other colours and swapping a couple but its still very autumnal and bright. Your version looks fantastic - funnily enough I have started a ripple with just your colours except I've put camel and gold in instead of white. I'm trying to recreate a beach xxx

        1. I live the sound of the camal and gold. I toyed with not adding white as it is a little bright but went with it in the end. Glad you are doing the CAL feels like a great big crochet family ❤️

      3. Your blanket is already growing so fast-it is a wonderful feeling to create something new and enjoy the process.
The room is going to look fabulous especially with a homemade finishing touch.
Hope it is the gallery of pictures on Sunday.

        1. It really is growing fast but I suppose how could it not. Only one stitch which means you could crochet it almost half asleep! My problem will be the enthusiasm to keep going. I am not great at stamina for long projects. Fingers crossed x maybe even toes too!

      5. Wow Selma! You have done loads more already! If I get two rows a day done on my blanket I think that I am going well!! It looks really great. xx

      6. I managed some first thing this morning I woke up early! But am suffering now and off to bed! Two rows a day every day would be brilliant. A blanket can be made steadily and quickly that way. I'm more sporadic!

      7. It's lovely to see the blanket in a completely different colourway, and I really like what you've done. Perfect for a neutral room, I shall look forward to seeing it when it's done.

      11. Hi, I've just seen you're grogeous blanket over on lucy's blog and I'm a little bit in love, I have so many WIP and two blankets on the go already but I'm very tempted by the lovely natural colours which is odd for me as I'm a bright colour girl normally, thanks for sharing the yarn colours you are using.

        1. I am like you too Clare. I have far too many WIPS but when I saw she was doing this cal. I knew I could so it in the spare bedroom colours and I am glad I have. I too like you tens to use bright vivid colours so this is new for me. But I am happy. Let me know if you make it. 😉

      14. Selma I love your colours, to be honest they are colours along with lilacs and soft blues that I would normally use. I am doing Lucy's Cottage ripple blanket and will do the Cosy blanket inner colours it takes me out of my comfort zone and having worked 1/3rd of Cottage I'm happy with them.

Thank you for sharing because I will definately work either the Cottage or the Cosy in your colours, I love the soft gentleness of them. :)

        1. Hello Peg. Lucy's ripple blanket is lovely but takes a little time. This cosy blanket is flying off the hook literally. Let me know which blanket you decide to use for these neutral colours. Would love to see what you do when you are ready. Thanks for popping over here, you are welcome any time x

        1. Lucy suggested buying 15 balls if 100g each. So I chose five colours and therefore bought 3 balls of each. Hope this helps x
