      Blogger blogging block

      February 1st

So already month 2 and this is my first post of 2017.  May I wish you all a belated happy healthy and prosperous year ahead.

Why the silence?  Well... I could list a multitude of reasons but that would bore you half to death, so needlessly I won't list my excuses suffice to say I am back, maybe not with a vengeance but I am back.

All has been it's usual hectic time here in the eclectichome, nothing new to report on my state of crafting except to inform you I still suffer badly from beginning way too many projects and failing to complete many of them, anyone else the same? Here is my shameful list of those projects I have begun in 2017 and as yet not completed:

3D knitted and felted chicken:  used the wrong wool and did not felt as it should and now I've lost all desire
Failure 1, but I am still tempted to give it another try

2D knitted and felted chicken: again wrong wool, will I not ever learn

Failure 2, again love the idea of this chicken, so will try again

Attic 24 Moorland CAL: it's an on going current online CAL so I am on track, yay!

At least I am on track with this blanket and
I love the gentle rhythm of it

3 crocheted cati all in various stages of incompleteness, need to source mini terracotta pots so at a standstill

These were such fun to make and are going to be used
on a crochet class I will be teaching, so
must get a move on and complete them

Knitted mittens, on the second one, it's nearly done: must get a wriggle on

The easiest ever mitten pattern, am 3/4 way
      through mitt number 2

Small doll crocheted  amigurami: not looking as good as I had hoped so a little 'off' this project

Am totally out of love with this and
      may just abandon it

Now that I have publicly shamed myself for too many WIPs and failures, I better hop along and try to rectify the situation, I had said I would not have any resolutions this year, but this post is making me think that I should really sort out this syndrome of mine and finish SOMETHING...ANYTHING...

until next time, stay well and safe...

      1. Happy New Year to you too. I used to have one project on the go which I'd work on exclusively until it was finished but I've changed over the last couple of years, I think it's good to have a choice of things to work on.

      2. Yay, glad you're back! And all those projects look NEARLY done...

      3. Hi Jo. Glad to read on your blog that you are feeling better. Quite relived it's not just me that has many projects in the go. Although perhaps I would be happier if I was a little less spontaneous?

      4. It's good to have you back. 💜
I've just got one project left to complete before I can choose to do something else. I'm not allowing myself to start anything new until this one is finished.
Your makes are lovely, as always.
The chickens are so cute and the blanket is looking beautiful.
I think, given the time of year, the mittens and the blanket should take priority for now. X

      5. It looks like you have been very busy and very creative...I think the more creative you are, the more you have to accept that a percentage of projects won't turn out as your imagination intended or even make it to completion and that this is just an inevitable part of being a creative being.

The only thing you have to watch, is to not let those projects bog you down or put you off.
Lets face it if you were a potter the clay would just get hoiked back into the pug mill and made into something else. Textiles do rather tend to stare rather accusingly don't they..lol

So be kind to yourself. Stuff a pillow with any mistakes that annoy and most importantly have fun!

It's lovely to have you back (and actually I rather like the chicken even if it didn't felt!)

        1. Oh gosh Val, you are really right, some projects do bog me down and I feel bad. Love the idea of using the mistakes as stuffing!

      7. Happy New Year to you too and it's good to see you back. Some lovely almost completed projects. Those I fall out of love with are labelled "experiments" and then don't have to be finished!

      8. Ah, Selma, it's so heartening to read your blog. We're all only human and most of us have (lots of, ahem) unfinished things of one sort or another scattered around our lives. At least you've started projects. I'm stuck in a real prevaricating stage - I keep looking at the lovely bag of wool for the Moorland blanket knowing I should do the sample before starting the blanket proper and just can't get going. Roll on your fabulous classes and a giant shove of motivation from you!

        1. You are so kind Sharon, I was going to ask you about the Moorland blanket but felt I should not badger you! Also cannot wait for crochet classes to begin again, bring on the end off the month I say xx

      9. I am sure that you will get things all figured out and will move on with things very soon. Can you crochet some pots for the cacti, a full crochet project! The cacti are very cute!

        1. I had thought about crocheting the pots Amy and I still may do a combo of that and terracotta, anted a little 'reality' in the project

        1. Thank you mammamercantile, I am going to try and see if I can starch it so it stands up on it's own as it should have done had it felted correctly
